History of Moonlight…

When you meet Brit, than you will understand the name behind One Ear Productions.

In the winter of 2006, One Ear Productions was under a different name, called Britductions, clever yet not as “catchy” and it mostly housed the resume & artwork created by me.  Never was there any intention of creating a business, as frankly I was busy enough with my full time job. But than my full time job started to struggle.  Fearing that I was not going to be able to pay my bills, I became a  freelancer in early 2007 while still working a full time job.  By June of that year One Ear Productions was born and has been steadily growing in the past few years.

At the end of 2009, One Ear Designs was formed as a newer fresher division of One Ear Productions, that just focuses on custom designs for personal (non-commercial) events.  This is the artist in me coming out in a newer fresher hip designs that are limitless in creativeness.

The Beginning…

The Start of Something Good…
So I have been asked several times, what lead me to being a multi-media designer?
Well I never imagined going in that direction, in fact I went to school as a fine artist, majoring in Painting. But than life happened and I hit a crossroads – Spend countless hours trying to make it as a Painter OR become a video editor and still Paint on the side…

So as you can guess I majored in Computer Imaging and minored in Painting. Funny thing happened in 2004, I was well trained in video editing,  but I had to take a basic web design class for my degree.   I honestly didn’t like it, cause it reminded me of math, and math was my least favorite subject. I did it and as it turned out, it was not as hard as I thought. Moving into 2005 I got a job being an assistant at a web firm and little did I know that this would lead me to becoming a web designer. I was just that simple “coffee-runner” that never really got coffee, and instead ended up helping (and learning) all about web design. I had very good mentors at the time and one of them, I still chat with today. I worked with this firm for nearly 3 yrs. It was the best group of people I could have ever worked with in that type of field, thus making it easier to love my job.

Graphic Design is like a Blank Canvas…
Colleagues have asked how can I enjoy building sites and other marketing materials, if painting was my passion. Well graphic design is like a blank canvas waiting to be painted on. Coming up with layout’s look/feel is just like coming up with a painting idea. Some come superfast, while others come later after several cups of coffee or an overnighter.

The internet is my gallery where viewers are going to see my “artwork”. The internet is such a huge open ended arena where viewers will either love or hate my designs. That is not a far stretch from the gallery scene, although it is much easier to be accepted…

Why Stop There…
One of the most favorite projects I have ever done was a Bus Ad. Words cannot express the level of excitement seeing that on a RTD bus driving on the interstate, (luckily I was not driving) and overcome with joy.  Than I knew that I wanted to be so much more than just a web designer, but I wanted to master all marketing avenues , as this was the artist in me, always wanting to be more creative.
