Moving a business across state lines can be difficult in that you have to re introduce who you are and what your business can do. In the spring of 2011, Brit moved from the rocky mountains of Colorado to the dairy queen lands of Wisconsin. Signing up for networking groups and chambers to help get the name out proved to help me meet with Lori, who was just launching her new business, Madison Green Box, an environmentally conscious moving box company. Rather than selling cardboard boxes, her business was to allow others to “rent” plastic (green!) boxes. This allowed a new method for moving AND a cut down on filling landfills/ recycle bins with cardboard boxes. (Notice: They are not a “moving” company, but they do have some great referrals for moving companies here.)
We meet at a coffeeshop and what I loved about meeting Lori, is that she was laid back, but in addition to being environmentally conscious, she also was heavily active in her community. Madison Green Box collects donations for Agrace Thrift Store via those green boxes, as an added service (when you rent, you can leave a box or more filled for them to take — just give them a heads up). What was unique was Lori and Mike (her partner) put their trust in Moonlight Designs Studio to design a flier based off of their existing business card (as they liked the look of it). This trust lead to a full blown marketing design of aspect of branding. While we did NOT design their logo, we listened to what they wanted to convey and nearly four years later, with a vehicle wrap and a website in addition to other materials, we still thoroughly enjoy working with them.
